The nRSP-ST is the latest model in the SDRplay receiver series that meets the needs of listeners who want a "plug-and-play" solution for receiving from a receiver installed in a remote location. In addition to the ability to listen remotely and of course locally, SDRplay has addressed the typical limitations that arise when the Internet connection speed is not particularly fast, which significantly limits the real-time display of a wide frequency range, by creating a new function called "IQ Lite", which provides efficient IQ data streaming.

There is also now the ability to control and store IQ data records at the remote location. The SDRplay nRSP-ST is ideal for anyone who wants a wideband remote receiver without the need for special computer skills and a lot of installation time and without constant maintenance and control at the remote location where the receiver is installed.

The main features of the nRSP-ST are:

  • "Plug and play" network receiver that combines a receiver, a host computer and much more in one box.
  • By applying power and connecting to the internet (Ethernet or Wi-Fi) the nRSP-ST is easily accessible from anywhere.
  • Designed for long-term continuous use (without the noise of a cooling fan)
  • The wideband SDR 14-bit ADC receiver covers all frequencies from 1 kHz to 2 GHz, i.e. VLF, LF, MW, HF, VHF, UHF and L-band, without gaps
  • Remote spectrum monitoring up to 10 MHz at a time from a choice of 3 antennas
  • The multi-platform SDRconnect software supports local operation or remote access on Windows, MacOS or Linux platforms
  • Remote access with a web browser even from Smartphones and tablets with Android or iOs

The nRSP-ST and the SDRconnect software can be configured for the available network bandwidth, with the following options:

  • In "Full IQ" mode, the nRSP-ST provides IQ data transfer of the visible spectrum bandwidth (e.g. for high-speed LAN or very fast Internet connection)
  • In "IQ Lite" mode, the nRSP-ST provides channel IQ data, bandwidth up to 192 kHz (e.g. for digital decoding by the client)
  • In "Compact" mode the nRSP-ST provides compressed audio and visual display (ideal for slower Internet connections)
  • Multiple client connections are supported with simultaneous combination of connection modes
  • All configurations support spectrum bandwidth display up to 10 MHz

There are two remote connection options:

  • Use a remote SDR connection client
  • Use the built-in web server for remote access from most up-to-date browser-enabled devices, including Android/iOS tablets and phones

The nRSP-ST offers the ability to record IQ and audio files to a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device if available on the local network and has upgradable Flash memory for future feature enhancements.
